MERKLEY, Elmer "Henry" In loving memory of Elmer "Henry" Merkley, 91 years who passed away peacefully, Wednesday September 18, 2002 in the evening on his 91st birthday, at the SRH - Laurentian Site. He was born in Westport, ON. He came to Sudbury as a young man and in 1939 married Jeannette Paquette and resided in Garson until 1994, he moved to his present residence in Sudbury. Son of Ida (Porter) and Samuel Merkley (predeceased). Loving father of Glory Ann (husband Roger Doré) of Lively, Garry "his best friend" (wife Cathe) of Sudbury, Janet Miller (husband Keith) of St. Catharines, ON and Carlyle (predeceased 1984) (wife Carolen of San Diego California). Proud and loved grandfather of Michelle (husband Bob Lanteigne) of Guelph, Deborah (Edmonton AB), Michael (financée Cathy Church), of Lively, Ryan Merkley (wife Angela) of Sudbury, Steven, David and Kristen Merkley of Sudbury, Robin and Carleigh Miller of St. Catharines, Jonathan of San Diego California and great granddaughter Laura Lanteigne of Guelph. Dear brother of Arden (wife Marcelle) of Kingston, Arley (husband Oliverio predeceased) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his sisters Mildred, Marjorie and his brothers Edward and Ambrose. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and special friends Innes Dixon and Lauren White. Elmer worked for INCO for 36 years retiring as a supervisor in 1972. He then worked for the Town of Nickel Center as their By-Law Officer for 25 years, retiring in 1998. Elmer was a friend to all he met. His children and grandchildren were his life. He was very supportive and so proud of their accomplishments. Dad (Elmer) was our "Wise Owl" and he always will be. He is not far from us, still helping as the "Wise Owl" of our family. Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St., Saturday, September 21st, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation in the Parklawn Crematorium.
