Charles F. Martell February 27, 1922 - May 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) MARTELL, Charles F. "Chuck" - It is with much sadness that the loved ones of Charles Martell announce his sudden passing on May 7, 2005, with his family by his side. Born in Rockdale, Cape Breton, on February 27, 1922, he was the loving son of the late Wilfred and Nona (Mailman) Martell. After leaving his beloved Cape Breton, he came to Halifax where he served in the Armed Forces, was a chef aboard CN Rail and retired from Nova Scotia Power after 37 years of dedicated service. Charlie was the first to lend a helping hand and provide caring support to family and friends. His small passions in life were fishing and hunting, and he had a great love for cooking. But all of these were second to the love of his little piece of Cape Breton, "Ocean View Cottage" in Rockdale. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie (Pottie); sons, Gregory (Carole), David (Denise); daughter, Brenda (Steve), all of Halifax; his grandchildren, the joys of his life, Scott (Rachelle), Kim, Bryan, Jeff, Cory, Erin; brothers, Lawrence (Marie), Lester (Carolyn); sister, Leone (Alfred); many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John, James; sisters, Cora and Elizabeth "Bessie". Visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Fairview, Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
