HIRST, Julius It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Julius Isadore Hirst, loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather, on Friday, May 27, 2005, at the age of 82, in Chesley, Ontario. As a young man he served as a pilot of a Lancaster bomber in the European theatre during WWII. He was a member of the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rites, Shriners Tunis Temple, Ottawa Fidelity Masonic Lodge, and past president of the Ottawa Optimist Club. He is missed by his brother, Maurice; wife, Daphne; children, Karen Gail (Lt. Col. Chris F. Skomars), Ley (Paul Rose); step-children, Diana Thompson and Peter Thompson; grandchildren, Mark Andrew Jaffe, Kami Andrea Laya Rose, Phillip Alexander Jaffe, and Jonathan Reed Jaffe. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Sonia (Sunny) Cooper Hirst. A Graveside Service will be held at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Osgoode on Monday, May 30, 2005 at 12 noon.
