PLAYFORD, John "Jack" Thomas (50 year member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and member of the Peterborough Sports Hall of Fame. Jack had been an active bowler, served on the executive board of the Softball League for 30 years and was past president and secretary) - Jack passed away peacefully at Centennial Place, Millbrook on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in his 94th year. Husband of the late Vera (Heard). Dear father of Sherry Fryia of Peterborough, Gayle (Robert Dolan) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Richard (Mary Ellen Moore) of Indian River, Judi Lynn (George Waymark) of Toronto and the late John Jr. Loving Dada of 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Brother of Genevieve Smith and the late Violet Atkins. A memorial service will be held at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 600 Monaghan Road South on Monday, May 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the Nisbett Reception Centre. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Robert Root officiating.
