BRUNETTE, Rita (nee Mantha) - It is with great sadness that the Brunette family mourns the loss of their beloved Mother, Rita, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in her 92nd year. Rita leaves behind seven children; Jeannine Rota (Victor), Helen Randle (Peter), Maurice (Barbara), Annette Corbeil (Rene), Raymond (Jewell Ann), Andre (Gillian) and Claude (Nat) along with 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Born in North Bay, Ontario, on January 12, 1914, predeceased by her husband, Camille (Cam) Brunette, and her parents, Marie-Jeanne and Olivier Mantha. Sister to Andy Mantha, Sault Ste. Marie, Irene Kozlo, Sault Ste. Marie and Cecile (Sally) Boudreau of North Bay. Predeceased by her brothers Rodolphe (Rudy) Emile, Armand (Nick), all of North Bay and Leo, Burlington along with sisters Marguerite Sullivan, Montreal and Germaine (Geri) Donohue, Toronto. Rita was the eldest original East Ender, having resided in the Worthington East area since birth. She was a past member of the Royal Order of Purple for several years and an active member of the Wednesday night "500 Card Club" for 39 years. Rita was a member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, where she has attended since 1947, when the Church was built with her father and husband on the construction crew. Before starting her family, Rita worked several years for the North Bay Nugget when it was located in the basement of the former St. Regis Hotel in the early 1930's. Visitation will take place at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME, Friday, June 17, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of her life and Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Memorial Drive, will be held Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 11 a.m., with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadain Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Rita's laughter, wit, wisdom, and 'joie de vivre' will be sadly missed by the many people whose hearts she has touched. She has been an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Sail on Silver Girl and may you rest in peace. All our love, your family.
