Many will mourn his passing, including his grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as many treasured friends of Jerry and Mary. Jerry and Mary’s families were members of the St. Paul’s United Church in Wpg., which resulted in their meeting when they were17 and 15 years old respectively. Their young relationship developed into love and eventually marriage in Sept. of 1939. Jerry was working at the G.McLean Co., where his career spanned 27 years. He was with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War and served as Aero Engine Mechanic. At the end of the War he returned to the G.McLean Co. as buyer for the wholesale grocery company. He moved his family to Anaheim, California in 1957 where he owned a service station as well as an Avis car and truck rental franchise. Missing Canada and his extended family, he returned to Winnipeg in 1962 and resumed his career in the wholesale grocery industry. Jerry retired from the Codville Co. in 1982, having completed a very successful career. Jerry and Mary have enjoyed 18 years of living on Lake Winnipeg in Ponemah, Mb. They have been active members of the Winnipeg Beach United Church as well as the Winnipeg Beach Legion, where they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last September with friends and relatives.
