Mrs. Johanna "Freda" Schaap September 11, 1920 - May 30, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Johanna F. "Freda" Schaap age 84, of Amherst passed away Monday, May 30, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in the Netherlands she was a daughter of the late Johan Heinrich and Johanna Elisabeth (van Busschbach) Glashorster. Freda and her husband moved to Canada in 1957 settling in Albert County, New Brunswick until 1973 at which time they moved to Amherst. She was an avid gardener and was well known for her love of plants and flowers and her green thumb. Freda had a great love for animals. Her pets were her constant companions, and she supported many wildlife and environmental causes. Freda loved music and spent many hours listening to her extensive collection as well as attending many concerts. She is survived by two daughters Alberta Schaap of Halifax and Elisabeth MacDonald of Fredericton, N.B.; one step-brother R.H. deVries of the Netherlands; two grandchildren Megan and Iain MacDonald both of Fredericton. Freda was predeceased by her husband Gerard, and two brothers Gerbert and Johannes (Joop) Glashorster both of the Netherlands. A celebration of Freda's life will be held Saturday, June 18, 2005 from 4-6 p.m. at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter, Amherst, N.S. or the Canadian Cancer Society. www.campbellsfh.com
