ROBERTS, A. Barry Barry Roberts passed away quietly in his sleep on September 15, 2005 at the age of 77. Barry is survived by his wife Pat; his sisters Dulcie and Avril; his sons and their wives Michael and Susan, Steven and Roberta and David and Vera; and grandchildren Jason, Julia, Christopher, Taylor and Erin. Barry and Pat emigrated from Wolverhampton, England in 1953 and moved from Toronto to Salluit and then Kuujjuaq in the early 60s, introducing his family to the Canadian Arctic. He was first and foremost a writer, as a reporter, a technical writer, a consultant on the Arctic, and most recently as author of the book For King and Canada, published just last year. His many interests included books, music, theatre, history, travel and later in life, baseball. He was a co-founder of Nortext, a marketing and publishing firm now operated by his sons. He continued to enjoy a very high quality of life, largely due to the support and devotion of his wife Pat. They had happily celebrated their 55th anniversary last week. Barry had a long, successful and happy life but will be sorely missed by his family and many friends here and abroad. Join the Roberts family to remember and celebrate Barry's life at the Heritage Hall room of the Carleton Heritage Inn, 7 Bridge Street, Carleton Place, Wednesday, September 21, 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association are appreciated.
