Deanna Joyce SMYTH

SMYTH, Deanna Joyce, R.N., Peacefully at her home in Edmonds, Washington on Thursday, April 7, 2005. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Smyth of St. Catharines. Dearest friend of Carole Brand, also of Edmonds. Forever friend and special s ister of Heather Bentinck Dennis of St. Catharines. Loving aunt to Kate Dennis of Toronto and Jeff Dennis of Niagara Falls. She will be missed by her many friends in Canada, the U.S. and abroad. Deanna was a graduate of The Mack Training School for N urses, Class of 1961. She and Carole moved to New York City in 1964 where they worked at Mount Sinai Hospital and later at the Orentreich Medical Group, retiring in 1994 to move to Seattle. Deanna loved life. Whether travelling the world with Carole, walking the beaches of Cape Cod or curled up with the cats at home, she was in her element. She was a loving and loyal friend. She was passionate about animal welfare, and her feline friends were devoted to her. Cremation has taken place in Seattle. Her ashes will be returned to St. Catharines for burial in her family plot. A celebration of Deanna's life will be held at that time (date to be determined). To honour her memory, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society, the Canadian Cancer S ociety or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
