DOWNING, Edmund "Ed" James ( formerly of Catchacoma Lake ) - Peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Peterborough Manor in his 84th year. Devoted husband of the late Ailwen Downing (nee Jones) (1993). Beloved father of Susan (Gary Thomas), James (Berni), Margo (Jim Kelly) and Karen (Doug Delaney). Adored grandfather of Will and Elena Thomas, Cassi, Michael and Keith Downing, Shannon and Bailey Kelly. "Special Mr." to Andrea & Mike Gordon & Brandon Delaney. Brother of the late Marion Davies. Brother-in-law to Margie & Jack Dougherty of Renfrew. Ed was a Foreman at Westclox and a W.W. II Veteran and a member of the R.C.A.F.. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2004 in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Robert Root officiating. Cremation to follow.
