ROBERTS, George "Doug" 68, of Lake Placid, Florida passed away on September 14, 2003 at Lake Placid Health Care Center, after a brave battle with cancer. Dearest husband and best friend of Carol (McKay) for 47 years. Loving father of Patricia (Greg Morrison) of Tampa, Fl., and Brian (Tracy) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Dear grandfather of six and great-grandfather of two. Brother to Joan (Pieterick) of Waterloo, Wisconsin. "Doug" was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, where he worked for the Canadian National Railway before moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1965. He and his father operated Reliable Carpet Service for over 20 years and then "Doug" worked in the Engineering Dept. of Holy Cross Hospital until retiring in 1998 to Lake Placid, Fl. Doug volu nteered a great many years to the Little League in N.E. Ft. Lauderdale coaching the Garden Drugs Team. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church of Lake Placid, Fl. on Saturday, September 20th a t 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Good Shepherd Hospice.
