BIRD, Grace Eleanor (nee Newbold), January 25, 1915 to November 25, 2003 It is with joy for her life and sorrow for our loss, that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Grace Eleanor Bird (nee Newbold). She was a devoted mother to her thr ee children - Dianne Gibson and Joanne Atkinson (Ken) of St. Catharines and Keith Bird (Gail) of Oakville. She was a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren - Hilary March (Dave), David Gibson, Megan Atkinson, Katharine Freure (Tom), Stephen and Elaine Bird. She was a proud great-grandmother (GiGi) to Sophie Grace and Lucas David March. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Bird in 1959, her parents Albert and Ellen Newbold and her uncle George Whitton. Also, she was predeceased by her sisters Iona Rumbarger (Don), Helen Jones, and her brother Charles Newbold (Vera). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Grace was a lifelong resident of St. Catharines and a graduate of the St. Catharine s Collegiate. She worked as a medical receptionist for Doctors Stewart, Brook and Leung for over 25 years and showed great compassion in supporting their many patients. She continued to enjoy her friends on Wolseley Avenue where she lived or many yea rs. A lifelong Anglican, she found comfort in her faith during her journey through life. She faced the adversities in her life with strength, faith and courage. Prior to her illness, she was an enthusiastic traveller with her family, a tireless polit ical campaigner, a great card player, an avid Blue Jays fan, and she had a wonderful sense of humour. However, her greatest joy was her family and she was proud of all of their accomplishments. Our mother is resting at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME, 7 5 Church Street, St. Catharines. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7-9 and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. A service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario Street on Saturday, November 29 at 9:30. Interment is at Victori a Lawn Cemetery.
