Agnes MCCARTHY

Sister Agnes McCarthy Sister Agnes McCarthy (Sister Agnes Clare) entered into her eternal rest at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough, Ontario on January 4, 2004 in the 71st year of her religious life. She was the daughter of the late John McCarthy and his wife Winnifred Hogan of Peterborough. Besides members of her religious community, she leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Lawrence and her sisters Grace (Mrs. Robert Hayden), Sister Anne McCarthy, CSJ and Mary (Mrs. M.J. Mahoney) (Martyn). Sister Agnes received her elementary and secondary education in Peterborough and received her teacher's certificate from Peterborough Normal School. She obtained her B.A. from the University of Toronto and a diploma in French Studies from Laval University. Sister Agnes taught in Clandonald, Alberta, Cobourg, Lindsay, St. Andrews West and Peterborough. She served her community as Directress of the Novitiate for several years and after her retirement tutored in Vancouver, Clandonald and Lindsay. Visitation at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough, Tuesday, January 6, 2004 from 1-4 and 7-9. Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated at Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery.
