Peacefully at Marianhill on Friday, April 11th, 2003 surrounded by her family. Cherished wife of Bernard Denault of Pembroke. Devoted mother to Lynn of Pembroke and Brenda of Ottawa. Loving sister of Rita Leahey (the late Herbert J. Leahey) of Pembroke; Damour Duquette (Yolande) of Pembroke; and sister-in-law Mary Duquette (the late Edmour) of St. Joseph, QC. Also remembered lovingly by sisters and brothers-in-law Cecil of Sault Ste. Marie; Dolly (Adrien) Girard of Prince George, B.C.; Philip of Lachute, QC; Dan (Gail) of Renfrew and Richard of Waltham, QC. Predeceased by her parents Alcide and Desneiges Duquette, formerly of Fort Coulonge, QC. Survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Throughout her life, Marie demonstrated the strongest devotion to God, her family and friends. After spending time with her, people would comment on her genuine warmth and welcoming nature to all. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life: meals with her large extended family, a walk in her neighbourhood, a shopping excursion in Ottawa. Marie loved her work at the Ontario Provincial Police detachment (Pembroke) but also enjoyed her winters lounging in the pool and relaxing at the trailer in Arizona. Visitation at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday after 11 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pembroke on Monday, April 14th, 2003 at 2 p.m., followed by cremation. A special thank you to her CCAC nurse, Tom Ferrigan; to Jody Gervais and the Pembroke General Hospital 2nd floor staff; and to the Palliative Care Unit of Marianhill, especially Nancy, for their care and compassion. Donations may be made to the Pembroke Hospital Building Fund, Marianhill Palliative Care, the Sisters of the Precious Blood or a charity of your choice.
