In Ottawa (his home for 48 years), on Monday, June 9, 2003, aged 82 years. Dearly loved husband of Helen Odette (nee Bodley), for over 55 years. Loving and loved father of Michael and Anthony; father in-law of Heather and Kathy. Dear grandfather of Ryan, Jordan, Michelle, Gryphon and Aiden. Predeceased by his brother Frank and survived by brother Ken and sister Doreen, all of England. Ronald served in the British Army from 1937 until the end of hostilities in 1945. Decorated, Mentioned in Dispatches and having been captured by the Germans on the Island of Leros, he escaped six times before finally being successful the seventh time. Emmigrating to Canada in 1955 Ronald served in the R.C.A.F. and following this, was Director of Public Relations for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Brewers Association of Canada and the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Following his retirement in 1987, "Dad" enjoyed, and was imêmensely enjoyed by his family, whom he loved dearly. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery. Reception to follow. For those wishing donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa would be appreciated.
