Audrey Beryl STEVENS

(nee Stevens) 79, of Dartmouth Beryl, for 53 years the beloved wife of Tristram Edward (Ted) Coffin, proud mother and grandmother, died at home November 15, 2003. Born in Ottawa August 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Eileen "Daisy" (Cregan) Stevens. Her sparkle touched those around her and the light of her spirit, love and personality will be greatly missed. A loving, giving woman, her practical mind and gentle heart readily gave assistance whenever she realized a need. Through her many church and community activities (CWL, Hope Cottage, Girl Guides, squaredancing, aquarobics and quilting) she met a wide range of people, many of whom became life long friends. She was a "baby" sitter who gave lots of love to the children, and continued to be concerned over their welfare. She was known throughout her neighbourhood as "The mother of the lane". She was predeceased by infant sister Shirley Ann, and son Tristram Thomas Laurance. Surviving are her husband and their children, Steven and wife Lorraine, Mary and husband Howard Byrne (Georgetown, Ont.), Audrey and husband David Tufts, Michael and wife Janise, Patricia and Curtis Rehberg, Gregory, Catherine and husband Douglas Hannah (Limehouse, Ont.), Frances and husband Bill Buott. Also by 17 grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Ann and husband Christopher Young. The family will receive visitors at the Dartmouth Funeral Home, Queen Street, Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. peter's Church, Maple Street, 12:00 noon Thursday, followed by a reception at St. Peter's School. By request, there will be family flowers only, however donations in Beryl's memory will be gratefully accepted by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, the Arthritis Society or Cancer Research, so her tradition of giving to those in need can continue.
