Joseph Alderice MELANSON

MELANSON, Joseph Alderice "Al"-Hawthorne Street, Antigonish, passed away peacefully, May 10, 2003, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Scoudouc, N.B., he was a son of the late Alban and Lydia (Gaudet) Melanson. He was employed for over 40 years with the CNR. He and his wife formerly owned and operated the Le Chateau Motel in Antigonish, and in later years was a real estate agent, with Eastern Realties Ltd., and was interested and active in Community and Political affairs. He enjoyed music, traveling, meeting people and entertaining. He is survived by his stepson, Archie Boyd (Moira), Ottawa; Helen MacDonald (Bert), Antigonish; sisters, Anita Babin, Fernande Melanson, Jeanne Cormier (Laurie); brothers, Edmund, Paul-Emile (Elia); sister-in-law, Rita Melanson, all of Moncton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rose (MacLean) Boyd; brothers, Emery, Fred, Albert. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial in St. Ninian's cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
