George Arthur Roy Of Atholville, NB, occurred at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the age of 58 after a short fight with cancer. Born in Moncton on April 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Alphe Roy and Ethel Duncan. George graduated from the college de l'Assumption in 1971 and was Assistant Manager to the Moncton Bleu Eagles while studying the Arts, Philosophy and Education at what is now the University of Moncton. A teacher for 33 years, George taught various subjects to students of all ages in Northern New Brunswick. He was involved for many years in the development and implementation of teaching programs designed to promote and enhance bilingualism for French students in the province. He was an intellect and had the gift to teach, his students and colleagues will remember him. George was also a great husband and father. His family who loved him immensely will dearly miss him. He is survived by his mother, Ethel of Moncton; his wife, Evelyn and son Shawn (Janie) from Atholville, brothers, Paul of Moncton and Raymond (Jane) of Saint John, NB; and his sister, Stella from Florida. He was predeceased by his father, Alphe and a sister, Helen and brother, Danny. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held from the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Atholville on March 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Father Roméo Morrison officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
