George Gravel Retired Manchester fire captain George Gravel, 55, of Manchester, died Nov. 24, 2001, at Catholic Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a fall at his home. He was born in Manchester on Nov. 9, 1946, the son of Alphee and Georgette (Beaupre) Gravel and had been a lifelong resident. He was a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department for 21 years and retired as Captain. He was with the Army National Reserve for six years and was an avid golfer and snow skier. Family members include his wife of seven years, Yvette (Garand) Gravel of Manchester; three daughters, Robin Gage of Chester, Renee Raymond and Roxanne Van Der Putten, both of Manchester; five grandchildren; two brothers, John Gravel of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Leo Gravel of Concord; two sisters, Louise Rossiter of Bedford and Clarisse (Gravel) Charland of Manchester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 27 in Ste. Marie Church, Manchester. Donations may be made to the Manchester Firefighter Relief Fund, 100 Merrimack Street, Manchester, 03101.
