Funeral services for longtime Hearst resident Cécile (née Vachon) Doyon, 90, of the Villa Belle-Rivière Apts were held March 1, 2004. She died Feb. 27 at Notre-Dame Hospital. Born Dec. 28, 1913 in Ste-Rose, Dorchester, Quebec, she came to the area in 1958. A member of Club soleil des aîné-e-s seniors club, she was a generous person with a love of life who enjoyed crosswords and cards. Predeceased by her husband Armand Doyon in 1997, sisters Victoria Provencal and Odélie Vachon, and brothers Albert and Arthur Vachon, she leaves daughters Huguette (Ronald) Paquette of Hearst, Micheline (Clarence Swanson) of Timmins, and Claudette (Normand) Vaillancourt of North Bay. Also surviving are a sister Julienne (Oscar Roy) and a brother Léo-Paul Vachon, all of Quebec, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Réal Veilleux directed the service at Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at the Hallébourg Cemetery.
