OBITUARY (ERIC) ROGER BOOTHROYD It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger Boothroyd on May 30, 2006. Roger was born April 2, 1918 in Lennoxville, Quebec. He was a graduate of Bishop's College and then of McGill University, where he subsequently went on to have a long and satisfying career as a professor in the genetics department. Although he enjoyed research, his true love was teaching. In his forty-five year career at McGill he inspired multiple generations of students with his love for his subject and served as a mentor for many of them. After finally retiring, he moved to Langley, BC to pursue his other love: gardening. Roger was a man of gentleness and wit, of intelligence and integrity. He will be missed by students, friends, and colleagues, and by his family: wife of forty-nine years, (Etta) Dita Kafer, children Arnold, Karin and Derek, and grandchildren Leela and Gwen. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26 at 2 p.m. at the Bishops University Chapel, in Lennoxville, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bishop's University Development Office, Lennoxville, QC J1M 1Z7, or to UNICEF. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 6/5/2006
