John David MALONEY

MALONEY, JOHN DAVID - 76, Halifax, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006, in Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Francis Joseph and Emily (Hurley) Maloney. John started his career in Halifax at TCA/Air Canada and retired with over 32 years in 1985. After that time, he worked for En-Route and then with MBB for a few years until he finally retired to take up golf. He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Armdale Yacht Club, Northwood Players and Fox Hollow Golf Club. He was a daily Mass and Communicate. John liked to spend Saturday's with his friends at Keigler's playing in the football pool and enjoyed a couple of days a week at Fox Hollow with his golf buddies. John (aka: J.D., Blackie, Stan Stunning, Dad and Poppie) met his wife, Evelyn Donovan in Halifax and they married in 1955. In 1956, their only child, Leah, was born. In 1992, he became a grandfather to his only grandson, Adam, who was without a doubt "the apple of his eye". His happiest times were spent watching Adam play hockey, baseball and the drums, as well as having family barbecues at daughter, Leah's and son-in-law, Mike's place. Kouzco, their Greyhound, would always have a warm welcome and John loved Kouzco. John was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and acquaintances. Visitation will be 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, Thursday in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral mass will be 10 am Friday, July 7, in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Mumford Road. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation. Email condolences: snowfh@alderwoods.com [The Telegraph-Journal]
