BATES, Stanley George. Peacefully, on May 22, at the Lakeshore Palliative Care Residence after a brief but valiant fight with cancer, borne with courage, grace and humour. Cherished husband and best friend of Janis (Morrison). Dear brother of Ken (Pat), of Ottawa, and of David (Tini), of Vancouver. Brother-in-law of Nancy and John Leefe of Liverpool, and of Eleanor and Bruce Morrison of Miramichi, NB. Uncle of Philip Leefe and Sarah Ackerman, Heather and Katie Morrison, Glen and Kim Bates, Chris and Mandie Bates, Devon and Griffin Bates. Loved and mourned by all who knew him. Please join the family for a celebration of Stan's life to be held on Monday, May 31, at Beaconsfield United Church at 2 p.m., 202 Woodside Rd., Beaconsfield. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Stan would have appreciated contributions to the Oncology Dep't of Lakeshore General Hospital, who gave him hope, to the Hudson VON who with love and care enabled him to stay at home as long as possible, or to the Lakeshore Palliative Care Residence who gave him courage, peace and rest.
