BROWN, Fern Elizabeth A loving wife and mother, slept peacefully away at her home on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 in her 86th year. "Absent from the body, present with the LORD". Born, educated and married in Ottawa, she and her husband of sixty-two years, Wilbur A. Brown, have lived in the London area for over 30 years. Just one day prior to her death, he suffered a stroke and now lies in critical condition in University Hospital, London. Fern was the daughter of the late Albert and Arvilla (Crozier) Gilhuly, and was predeceased in 1994 by her sister, Doris Gilhuly. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Jack) McLaughlin of Timmins, and Diane (John) Atkinson of Vancouver; as well as daughter-in-law, Helena Brown of London, widow of her son Kevin, tragically killed in 2001. The children of Diane and Kevin made Fern proud 'Nana' to six grandchildren - J.J., Dan and Rebecca Atkinson of Vancouver; and Jordan, Jared and Joshua Brown of London. Friends and family may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Saturday, June 19 from 7 - 9 p.m. or Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m. The service will be held in the Chapel, Sunday, June 20 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Samaritan's Purse would be appreciated.
