HAMPTON, Don H., P.Eng. At the Ottawa General Hospital on Friday 14th May 2004, at the age of 66 years, after a courageous battle with cancer, died peacefully in his sleep. Much loved husband of Susan and proud father of Timothy and Jennifer and father-in-law of Daniela. Survived by his elder brother Sam and sister-in-law Pat in Australia. Don obtained his engineering degree in Australia and worked on the Snowy Mountain Hydroelectric Project before getting married in England in 1966 and coming to Canada. He dedicated himself to sustainable, environmental-friendly engineering in his career with Public Works Canada and with his own consulting firm in Ottawa. He treasured his time in Singapore sharing his knowledge of engineering with students at Ngee Ann Technical College. Students who were eager for knowledge still kept in touch with "Mr. Don" via e-mail. He was a keen tennis player at the Rideau Tennis & Squash Club and enjoyed going to Dog Shows with his beloved Cavaliers. A private family gathering was held after cremation on Monday 17th May 2004. We would like to thank all the people who have helped over the past few months with care and affection. We will miss his strength, ability to solve problems, generous spirit and hearty laugh.
