O'KANE, THOMAS EDWARD "ED" The death of Thomas Edward "Ed" O'Kane of Burton, NB occurred at home on Thursday, October 19th, 2006. Born in Chatham, NB on September 16th, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph James and Mary Ellen (Savoy) O'Kane. Ed served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years and 18 years as a Public Service employee (CE) at CFB Gagetown. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Joan (Myles) O'Kane; three sons, Michael (Sonyia) of Oromocto, NB, Tim (Nicole) of Burton, Tom (Jessica Currie and daughter Kitara) of Fredericton, NB; two daughters, Cathy of Burton, and Kelly Rhindress (Brent) of Geary, 10 grandchildren, Cassandra, Steven, Robyn, Natasha, Zack, Sean, Kate, Olivia, Teddy and Solomon; three brothers, James of Bathurst, Joseph of Summerside, PEI and Bill of Miramichi; one sister, Patsy Cassidy of Miramichi. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, David of Miramichi. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22nd, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be held from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Monday, October 23rd, 2006 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ken Weir officiating. Interment will be in the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Extra-Mural Program, Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society or St. Vincent de Paul Building Fund.
