Line ROBILLARD

ROBILLARD, Line 1943 - 2006 Line est décédée le mercredi 25 octobre dernier, après avoir fait preuve de force et de courage face au cancer qui l'habitait. Fille de feu Denyse Guimont et de feu Claude Robillard, elle laisse dans le deuil sa belle-mère, Madame Thérèse Amos Robillard, ses soeurs Claude, Marie, Andrée (Éric Lefebvre Ganne), ses frères Jean (Paule Lévesque) et Philippe, dix neveux et nièces, son fidèle compagnon de vie Stephen Kinsman, ainsi que de nombreux amis et collègues de travail. Line détenait un baccalauréat en sciences politiques et économiques de l'Université McGill, un M.B.A. de l'Université du Québec à Montréal et avait étudié à l'Institut d'études politiques à Paris. Elle a débuté sa fructueuse carrière comme adjointe de C.L. Sulzberger, chroniqueur aux affaires étrangères et directeur du bureau du New York Times à Paris. Elle a travaillé pendant 10 ans au département d'État des U.S.A. à Washington, en tant qu'analyste politique, directrice de programme à la Commission nationale des États-Unis pour l'Unesco, et consul à Oran en Algérie. De 1989 à 1994, elle était directrice générale du Y.M.C.A. Montréal. De 1994 à 2003, elle est directrice générale de la Fédération mondiale de l'hémophilie, un organisme international à but non lucratif voué à l'amélioration des soins prodigués aux hémophiles. Depuis 2003, elle s'occupait de mettre sur pied un organisme américain, The National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilie pour venir en aide aux personnes atteintes de thrombophilie. Elle était membre de la Conservation de la Nature. La famille recevra parents et amis le samedi 4 novembre de 10 à 11 heures au Complexe funéraire Mont-Royal 1297, chemin de la Forêt, Outremont 514-279-6540 Un service commémoratif suivra à 11 heures. Au lieu de fleurs, un don à la Fondation Griffith McConnell ou à l'hôpital neurologique de Montréal serait apprécié. La famille tient à remercier le C.L.S.C. Daughter of the late Claude and late Denyse (Guimont) Robillard, dear stepdaughter of Therese Robillard, and dearest sister of Claude, Marie, Andree (Eric Lefebvre Ganne), Jean (Paule Levesque) and Phillippe, loved aunt of ten nephews and nieces and loving companion of Stephen Kinsman. After graduating in Economics and Political Science from McGill University, Line took a further political science course at La Sorbonne. She worked for Cyrus Sulzberger of The New York Times in Paris and pursued a Cordon Bleu cooking course at the same time. Between 1971 and 1981, she worked with the U.S. Department of State as a political analyst, Consul to Oran (Algeria), and was subsequently program director at the U.S. National Commission of UNESCO. From 1981 to 1987, she was special project consultant for the Royal Commission on the Canadian Economy ("The MacDonald Commission") and the Canadian Minister of Health and Welfare. Between 1989 and 1994, she was Executive Director of the YWCA in Montreal. From 1994 until 2003, she was Executive Director of the World Federation of Hemophilia. Line became the friend and counselor to many people at and associated with the WFH in many countries in the world and her impeccable fluency in English, French and Spanish was a great asset. From May 2003 to late 2005, she helped establish a patient-based, not-for-profit organization i the U.S., The National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia, as its Executive Director. Line enjoyed working her showpiece garden at her country house near Mansonville. She had a completely catholic taste in music, was fascinated by astronomy and exploits in outer and inner space. Line will be remembered for her great intelligence, certainly, but also for her compassion and quiet - but sometimes outrageous - sense of humour. Line was without doubt the Renaissance Woman. Family and friends,worldwide, will miss her. We wish to thank the Griffith McConnell Home, the Montreal Neurological Hospital and the CLSC Metro for all their help not only to Line, but to us as well. There will be a memorial service for Line at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4 at the Outremont Chapel of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex.
