Florence TOWNSEND

GOULD (TOWNSEND), Florence- It is with great sorrow that the family of Florence Gould announces her passing on January 1, 2004 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in her 99th year.Ê Most loving and precious mother of Sydney Townsend (May) and Bonnie Baillie (Paul).Ê Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.Ê Predeceased by her husbands Arthur (Ted) Townsend (1959) and Robert Gould (1977) and her sons Fred Townsend (1952) and Grant Townsend (1954).Ê Florence was born and raised in Amberly, Ontario and then moved to Toronto to train as a nurse at the Toronto Psychiatric Hospital where she met and later married her first husband, Ted.Ê After spending many years at home raising her children, she again went back to nursing, first at Fairview Lodge in Whitby and then nursing homes in Brampton and in Streetville.Ê Florence was a devout Presbyterian and a member of Stamford Presbyterian Church, and was very active in the Mary Martha Society at that church.Ê Always known for her years of crafts, whether it was her quilts or her Annie and Andy dolls, and of course her cherry pies.Ê She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place.Ê Arrangements have been entrusted to the Morse & Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes.Ê A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday January 5th at Stamford Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m.
