JASPER, Ina Atha (Gustafson) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Ina Jasper. After suffering from a long battle with pneumonia, Ina passed on with her family by her side at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on November 19, 2006. Ina was born in Bowsman, Manitoba on July 4, 1924, the second child of Uno and Viola Gustafson. She married Charles Jasper in a small intimate wedding at her parents' home on January 7, 1944. After a lovely reception, they boarded the train west for the honeymoon. They started their early life in Calgary where Charlie worked for Standard Gravel and Ina worked as a cook on the summer crew. In the late 1950's they changed the course of their lives when Charlie started training thoroughbred racehorses. With their family of three girls, Geri, Sandra and Connie, horse racing took them to Phoenix for the winters, California in the fall and summers were spent in Calgary and Edmonton. In the early 90's, Ina and Charlie retired to Okotoks where they enjoyed many years together and travelled to Phoenix for the winters. In recent years, Ina resided at the Sandstone Lodge in Okotoks and has enjoyed spending time with family and many special friends. Ina leaves her beloved three daughters, Geri (Gordon) Gowdy of Innisfail, Sandra (Andy) Anderson of Phoenix and Connie (Lloyd) West of Phoenix; her beloved and cherished five grandchildren, Richard Wise (Shannon Beauregard) of Edmonton, Robert (Lisa) Wise of Calgary, Cory West of Phoenix, Ryan Anderson (Colleen Walsh) of Phoenix and Kristina Anderson of Los Angeles. She also leaves son-in-law Wayne Wise of Calgary, along with two very new great-grandchildren, Porter Charles Anderson of Phoenix and Katelyn Victoria Wise of Calgary. Ina was predeceased by her husband Charlie Jasper; sister Vera Taylor; brother Bud Gustafson; and brothers-in-law, Orville Metcalfe, William (Edna) Jasper, Homer Jasper and George (Mary) Jasper. She is survived by sister Nellie Metcalfe; two brothers, Harry (Helen) Gustafson and Lorne (Sybil) Gustafson; and beloved in-laws, Agnes Gustafson, Pearl Jasper and Robert Taylor; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Roy Jasper and his wife Sheila for all the loving support they shared with Ina. Thank you to the wonderful staff and her many dear friends at Sandstone Lodge in Okotoks for their friendship and care, as well as the dedicated staff at the Rockyview Hospital who worked tirelessly to make her final days as comfortable as possible. May God bless you all. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, Alberta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandstone Lodge, 101 Centre Court, Okotoks, Alberta T1S 1Y4. Arrangements are under the care and direction of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME (Okotoks).
