CAPLAN, Max 1919 - 2006 Max Caplan of Calgary, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at the Rockyview Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 87 years. Max was born and raised in Calgary, served in the army and worked for many years with the Calgary Postal Service. He was a quiet, gentle person, very generous to charities and volunteered his time in earlier years. Max will be remembered and missed by his extended family and friends. Max was predeceased by his parents, Henya and Chaim Caplan; his brothers, Ben and Sam; and his sister Lillian. He is survived by his sister Ida Kamen of Chicago; four nieces; five nephews; as well as many cousins and their families in Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg, Chicago and Jerusalem. Graveside Service will be held at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.) on Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. The family wish to extend many thanks to the staff at the Chinook Care Centre for their compassion and care for Max over the last years, especially Lucy, Max's caregiver and good companion.
