After a short illness, Rollande Huppé (Perron) of Earlton died at the Englehart and District Hospital on September 19, 2005. She was born in St. Pascal de Baylon, Ontario on September 3, 1917 to Telesphore Perron and Régina Labrèche and received her education at École Assomption in Earlton. Before her marriage to Wilfrid Huppé in Earlton on June 19, 1945 she worked as one of the finest cooks at the Haileybury Hospital. Then, alongside her husband, they owned a restaurant in Earlton where they raised their son Jacques. After 12 years of cooking for the public she decided to continue baking and decorating wedding cakes at home, plus having some leisure time. She was a perfectionist with her hobby, which she loved. Her pastries, meat pies and doughnuts were much in demand, especially at Christmas time. Mrs. Huppé was a member of various organizations, including the Roman Catholic Church, and helping others was also her joy. She was mostly devoted to her family. She was the best loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. The children, to her, were very precious — and her to them. She will be sadly missed, said her family, but most importantly always remembered and loved in everyone’s hearts who knew her for the wonderful, giving person that she was. Mrs. Huppé is survived by her son Jacques (wife Helen); grandchildren Marc (wife Lise), Julie (husband Stephane) and Steven (wife Angie); great-grandchildren Brooke, Justin, Émilie, Patrick, Hunter and Mathieu; sisters Gilberte, Jeannette, Therese and Cecile; sisters-in-law Gabi and Lucille Huppé; brothers Lucien (wife Jeanne-D’Arc) and Marcel (wife Norma). She was predeceased by her parents, husband Wilfrid, brothers Fern, Gérard and Maurice; sister Yvette; and brothers-in-law Germain, Julien, Albert, Armand and Donat. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted by Father Gilles Leblanc at Paroisse St. Jean Baptiste in Earlton on Wednesday, September 21 at 11 a.m. Pallbearers are Marc and Lise Huppé, Steven and Angie Huppé, Stephane and Julie (nee Huppé) Thibault. Burial is at the Earlton Cemetery. Relatives and friends from out of town attending the service came from Timmins, New Liskeard, South Porcupine, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, Sudbury, Hanmer, Iroquois Falls, and Sorel, Quebec. In memory contributions to the CAT Scan Foundation at the Temiskaming Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
