Lawrence Anonychuk February 10, 1943 - May 06, 2007 After a heroic battle with cancer, the family is saddened to announce the passing of Lawrence Anonychuk at his home on Sunday, May 6, 2007. His last days with us were surrounded with much love and candlelight prayers by family and friends. Lawrence leaves to mourn him, his devoted wife Karen; his sons Dallas, Richard, and Guy; his daughters Melanie (Joe), Darci (Pat), Trecial (Dean), Tamasin; his seven dearly loved grandchildren Kyle, Cortni, Trystin, Chelsea, Kristen, Camille and Nolan; his very loving mother Mildred; his sisters Joanna (Steven), Daria (son Darrion); his brothers Gene (Irene) and Alex (Christina) and brothers-in-law Gerry and Malcolm. Lawrence was born in Canora, Saskatchewan on February 10, 1943. After graduating from St. Andrew’s College (Winnipeg.) in Theology, Lawrence decided to focus his career on his ever-present love for animals by breeding and training champion German Shepherd Dogs and Thoroughbred Race Horses. In his some 38 years working with his animals, Lawrence became a lifetime member of the Canadian Kennel Club and the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Manitoba. During his tenure he became a Canadian Kennel Club Judge and bred the only dog ever to be awarded the “Bankers Gold Medal for Heroism”. In 1990 he became a board member of the National Canadian Thoroughbred Society, becoming their V.P. in 1992 and President in 1994. In addition, Lawrence served on the Board of Directors of the Horseman’s Benevolent Protection Association and became Head Animal Wrangler/Trainer for the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry. The family wishes to thank all of Lawrence’s doctors, nurses and his many friends for all their help, compassion and support. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A gathering will follow at his home.
