COULIS, Sally Rita (nee Notte) - In loving memory of our dear aunt Sally Coulis who passed away at St. Joseph's Villa on Monday, April 16th. She was the beloved wife of 40 years of Stanley Coulis who predeceased her in 1999. Savaria (Sally) was born in North Bay, Ontario on March 2, 1913, the fourth child of Angeline and Joseph Notte. Predeceased also by her sisters Rose Palangio (2001), Margaret Cangiano (2003) and Mary Ammerata (2004) and by her brother-in-law and sister- in-law John and Theresa Coulis. She is survived by her sister Anne DeStefano of Sudbury, her brother Michael Notte of Walkerton, and her sister-in-law Stella Killoran of Toronto. Sally is also survived by her nieces Dianne Thomson and Rosemary Fillmore (Bill) and her great-nephew Stephen Thomson (Sadie), her great-niece Marisue James (Tim) and many other members of the Palangio, Cangiano, Notte and Ammerata families. Sally attended St. Joseph's Academy in North Bay where she was an excellent student and performed in several dramatic productions. After graduation she worked for her brothers-in- law in their businesses in Timmins, North Bay and Toronto, and for many years assisted her brother Michael at Notte's Pharmacy in North Bay. Her written account of her extensive trip to Europe in the 1950s reveals her lively and curious mind and her delight in travel. In 1959 Sally married Stan and moved to Sudbury where they enjoyed an active social life, playing bridge and golf and participating in the activities of Branch 76 of the Legion where they loved to dance and enjoy the music of live bands. They were parishioners at St. Clement's Church and later at The Church of Christ the King. For several years Sally did volunteer secretarial work for The Sisters of St. Joseph. She was our warm and affectionate auntie who dressed with flair, always had special words for us and made us smile with her wry sense of humour. We wish to thank her wonderful caregivers including the staff of St. Joseph's Villa and For Seniors Only, most notably Nora Forsey and Ritva Waine who looked after Sally with so much affection during her final years.
