Wilhelmina HOEKSMA

TASSIE, Wilhelmina (Vicki) Hoeksma 1915 - 2007 Peacefully on May 12, 2007 at Sunrise of Unonville. Vicki was born on November 14, 1915 in Bussum, Holland. She grew up in Holland where she completed a law degree (Leiden). During WWII, Vicki was active in the resistance movement. At the end of the war she met her future husband, Lt. James (Jim) Tassie. A war bride, Vicki emigrated to Canada in 1946 and lived in Ottawa for almost sixty years. She was a long-time parishioner of Christ Church Cathedral where she especially enjoyed the music. Vicki will be remembered for her courage and intelligence, as well as her needlepoint and crossword talents. Her love of her family was evident to all who knew her. She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-one years, who died just three weeks before her. Vicki is survived by her son Bill as well as family members in both Canada and Holland.
