DUFFIELD: Charles January 23, 1914 - May 28, 2006 Charles Duffield passed away peacefully on May 28, 2006 at the age of 92 years. He was born on January 23, 1914 to Harry and Jane Duffield in the Country of Birmingham, England. Charles came to Canada at the age of 7 years. He was one of Canada’s 80 thousand child immigrants who made a new life in a strange country. Charles worked on various farms in New Brunswick where he met and married Ella May Graham. Together they raised 4 children. They worked hard and enjoyed the occasional Saturday evening playing cards with friends. Over the years Charles worked at various jobs, never idle, and especially enjoyed woodworking and doing small renovating jobs for folks in the community. He spent many years as Sexton of St. Anne’s Paris Church in Fredericton. After retirement, Charles and Ella moved to Alberta where they enjoyed many years of Christmas celebrations with family at the acreage in Hesketh until their passing. Charles is survived by two daughters; Wilma Fraser and Sharon (Steven) Wolchina, grandchildren; Linda, Donna, Larry, Stephen, Keith, Paul, Deeon, Jeanette, Tracy, Valerie, Adam and Courtney as well as numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Ella, sons; Charles Richard, and Brian Roger, grandson; Bobby, and son-in-law Ralph. Dad was a quiet, reserved, gentleman who worked very hard to raise his family and give them all the good things in life that he never had. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 2:00pm from Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow the service at the Drumheller Municipal Cemetery, Drumheller, Alberta.
