Brynley STEPHENS

STEPHENS, Brynley 1921 - 2007 Passed away peacefully November 10th, 2007 at Crossroads Hospice, Port Moody, BC. Bryn was born on the Ides of March, 1921 in Caerphilly, South Wales. The family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in Regina, Saskatchewan. Bryn joined the Regina Rifles as a bandsman in 1937 and then in 1940 signed up for active Service. While serving in England, he met the love of his life, Iris Pamela and they were married on May 24, 1944. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1967 in Gatineau, Quebec, and moved to BC in 1988. He expressed his love for his family through his grandchildren. He spent countless hours supporting them at every one of their softball, volleyball, baseball and soccer games. Summers were spent with Iris and their other grandchildren at their cottage north of Ottawa, swimming, boating. He is survived by his loving wife, Iris, daughter Joy (spouse Mike) and son David; 4 grandchildren, Cheryl (Cris), Grant, Marie Angelique & Genevieve Marie; step-grandchildren Richard (Guylaine) and Karen; 4 great grandchildren, Lucas, Jessie, Ethan and Sage; siblings, Millicent; Selwyn & Godfrey; many nieces & nephews, extended family & friends; predeceased by brothers Jim & Ray; daughter Mary Ann. Sorely missed will be his generosity, his sense of humour, his daily e-mails, but most of all his love of cooking, no one ever left his table hungry. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Crossroads Hospice Society, P.O. Box 1072, Coquitlam, BC V3J 6Z4 or blood donations to Canadian Blood Services.
