AITKEN, Herbert Herbert Claude Aitken passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Loved husband of 50 years to Shirley Aitken (nee Ferguson). Beloved father of Carol Thomson (Carey) of Kanata, Ontario. Predeceased by son Kevin and infant son Alexander Claude. Cherished grandfather of Brock and Eric Thomson. Also survived by one brother William (Catherine) of Martintown, brother-in-law and very special friend of David Craig (Peg) of Barrie, Ontario and sister-in-law Freda Poapst (Charlie deceased). Predeceased by his parents Herbert Aitken and Lyla Aitken (nee Hall), two sisters Essie Craig and Helen McNaughton and one brother Kenneth Aitken and sister-in-law Edith Pollock and brother-in-law James Pollock. Visitation will be held at the Brownlee Funeral Home, 18 Front Street, Finch on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery in Newington. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
