MCQUEEN, Ronald J. C. - Of Toronto and Collingwood (raised in Durham in beautiful Grey County with brother Ray and sister Jean) died at the age of 82 from prostate cancer. After 2 years in The Canadian Army of WWII he spent 5 happy years at the University of Toronto (Modern History and a Master of Health Sciences) split by 3 years in Ottawa at Communications Branch of NRC before finding the perfect career in hospital planning and management. He was a senior consultant and President of Agnew- Peckham, health care consultants and also an Associate Professor and Director of the postgraduate program in Health Administration (now called Health Policy, Management and Evaluation) at the University of Toronto. He devoted his career to the planning of quality hospital care delivered in a rational manner. His only regret was that, despite a few success stories with voluntary action by hospital boards, it required governments to effect meaningful coordination in all parts of Canada. In recent years he enjoyed volunteer activities with adult literacy at Frontier College; two hospital boards in Toronto and one in Collingwood; and organizing a lecture series on Canadian Perspectives with Senior Alumni at the University of Toronto, for which he received The Arbor Award in 2005. Ron made it known always that he had a joyous and rewarding life, professionally and personally among colleagues, friends and family. He requested cremation and no funeral service.
