MICHENER, Lawrence - With great sadness the family of Lawrence Michener announces his passing at the Welland Hospital, on Friday, December 14, 2007, in his 92nd year. Cherished husband of the late Lily Michener (1988). Beloved father of Sharon Michener, Linda Storoni (Sandy), Leslie Michener, Louise Chatwin (Gord) and Laura Mathias. Devoted grandfather to Stefanie & Steven Storoni, Jason Michener, Aaron VanNatter, Sarah Chatwin & Jessie Mathias and great-gramps to James & Cynthia. Loved brother of Ralph Michener (Ruth). Dear uncle of Nancy Thomas, Marilyn Daniels, Danny Patakfalvi (Betty), Barbara Craig (Barry), Beverly Knowles (Clive), Brenda Asplund, Billy Mason (Donna), Terry Mason (Karen), Beverly Grimski (Dan), Lee Michener & Greg Michener. Also predeceased by parents Allen & Gertrude Michener, his son Larry (2001) and brother Keith (1998). A life long resident of Welland, Lawrence worked as a foreman at Haun Drop Forge for 41 years, retiring in 1981. During his life he had many passions, including hunting, gunsmithing and woodworking which carried over into later years where he also golfed and played bridge. Lawrence belonged to the Rose City Senior Centre, where he spent many, many fond hours playing cards and making tables. When his memory and his hands started to fail, he carved birds and many people are recipients of these. At Dad's request, there will be no visitation or flowers, but instead a donation to the Alzheimer Society, the Arthritis Society, the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated. A Memorial Service will take place at H. L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Monday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate his life. Please join us. 10936002
