Douglas James Silzer June 11, 1949 - April 11, 2004 Silzer, Douglas James C.D.(Captain with the Queen's Own Rifles Regiment); Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at The Scarborough Hospital - General Division. Loving husband to Sheila. Devoted father to daughter Amy and son Scott and his wife Darlene Survived by his parents Ruby and Jacob and his brother Bruce and his wife Rhoda. Special uncle to Jason and Karyn. Douglas will be fondly remembered by members of the military regiments with whom he served and his many colleagues at the Toronto District School Board. Doug was a graduate of Queen's and York Universities. Prior to his 26 year teaching career, Doug was employed as a Civil Engineer. Special thank you to the staff and physicians at The Scarborough Hospital for their outstanding care and support. Family and friends are invited to visit the "Scarborough Chapel" of McDougall & Brown, 2900 Kingston Rd. on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 from 4-6 p.m. and Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 4-5:30 pm. Chapel service will follow at 5:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Scarborough Hospital - General Division Oncology/Palliative Care Department would be greatly appreciated by the family.
