BASS, Rose 2008-01-02 Rose Clara Frances Bass (Flank) passed away peacefully at Versa Care with her family by her side on Saturday, December 29th, 2007. Rose was born February 14th, 1922 and was the heart and soul of her family. During her life, she did everything from milking cows, working at Can Car during the war to truck driving and cake decorating, but first and foremost she was a caregiver to her brothers, sisters, their children, foster children and to her daughter Lucille and then to grandsons Tavis and Kyle, whom she adored. Rose was always quick to lend a helping hand. She was truly a remarkable woman from whom we all learned the true meaning of kindness. She not only held the hearts of her family, but she also touched the hearts of anyone who knew her, including the staff of Versa Care, who would travel to the 5th floor for one of Rose’s back rubs. Rose grew up in Pearson and later moved to Fort William where she met and married the love of her life, Doug Bass. Rose will be sadly missed by her daughter Lucie and son-in-law Dave Harris, her grandsons Tavis (Liz) and Kyle, sisters Ollie (Ron) Thomas, Florence Johnston, Doreen Cork, Roberta (Pat) Edwards; brother John (Jeanne); sisters-in-law Melba and Isobel Flank, niece Karen McIntosh who cared for her before and during her stay at Versa Care, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Doug, parents John and Thora Flank, sisters Marie Fulton, Roselle Flank, Lily Flank, Margaret Kearney and brothers Ed, Eugene and Robert Flank as well as other brother and sister-in-laws. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held Thursday January 10th at the Rosslyn Village Community Centre beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Versa Care would be greatly appreciated.
