EISLER, Vernon Lyle (June 25, 1931 August 2, 2007). On the afternoon of August 2, Vern died peacefully at home, cared for and supported by his family, as were his wishes. Honoured to have had him in their lives are Anne, his wife of 55 years; his children, Susan Draper (Bill), Nancy Ritchie, Jayne Eisler, Jeff (Billie), Phil (Karen), Mary-Anne Slack (Andrew), along with 17 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, and his beloved dog, Sada. Also surviving him is his dear sister, Lois Pearce, of Regina, Saskatchewan. Originally from Saskatchewan, Vern married Anne in Edmonton and soon after began his 35 year career with Firestone Canada. This work moved his family to Calgary, Winnipeg, and finally, Burlington, Ontario. Vern and Anne retired to Qualicum Beach, where he continued to be the Saskatchewan Roughriders' and the Edmonton Oilers' biggest fan, as well as a loyal customer of Tim Hortons'. There will be a celebration of Vern's life at 2 pm on August 31, at Knox United Church in Parksville, BC, Rev. Foster Freed officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Published in the Regina Leader-Post on 8/11/2007.
