CHEROSKI, Michael 2008-01-18 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Michael Cheroski, age 87, at Pioneer Ridge on Saturday January 12, 2008. Mike immigrated from Poland with his sister Marie at a young age and settled in Westfort for most of his life. He was employed with the Great Lakes Paper Company (Bowater) for 43 years, retiring from the Water Quality Dept. in 1983. Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; his family, his friends and the great outdoors. He is remembered for his many great fishing and hunting stories that he loved to tell his grandchildren. Most memorable were his trips driving to the Yukon and Alaska with long-time friends Wally and Ralph. In his latter years, he enjoyed his daily walks to Northwood Park Plaza and having lunch at the Plaza Restaurant with his friend Rocci. Just recently Mike moved to Pioneer Ridge where he was taken excellent care of by the staff on Plaza 4. Mike is survived by daughter June (George) Dzijacky, grandchildren John (April) Lingner, Derek Dzijacky, Leanne (Ian) Medwick and Michael Dzijacky, great grand daughters Lily and Aiva Lingner and Emma and Sarah Medwick, sisters Marie Zadorozny and Pat (Jim) Diakow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Jim Cheroski, daughter Marilyn Lingner, parents Stanley and Tillie Cheresnowski and Sister Nancy Zaroski. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church (Donald and Edward Streets) on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 11:00am with Pastor John Schmidt officiating. If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer‘s Society or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com
