STEAD (Hannam), Elizabeth Harriett STEAD (Hannam), Elizabeth Harriett - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, at the age of 67. Betty passed away surrounded by her family on February 23, 2008, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Harriett and Clement Hannam. Betty was an avid camper, spending her summers alongside Gordon at the Land of Evangeline campground and her winters, snow-birding in Florida. Her hobbies included reverse glass paintings, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughters, Darlene (Barrie) Burt, Debra Hennessey, and son, Daniel (Claudette) Brooking; sisters, Shirley, Audrey, and Ruth; grandchildren, Scott, Alicia, Mark, and Daniel; stepchildren, Mark (Darlene), Jennifer (Todd); stepgrandchildren, Ashleigh, Codie, Dylan and Sara. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Pat Malin officiating. Private family burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The QEII Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
