Aila LIIMU

LIIMU, Aila 2008-02-27 Aila Liimu, aged 76 years passed peacefully with family and friends at her side Monday, February 25, 2008. Aila was born July 2, 1932 in Sippola, Finland. She attended school and wed in Finland. In 1962 she moved to Canada with her husband Kalevi to start the family business Finn Meats. Aila loved spending time in her flower beds at the family summer cottage at Dog Lake and at her home. Always an open house with family and friends greeted with her laughter, kindness, delicious baked goods and coffee. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Kalevi; son Jukka; daughter Tiina; grandchildren Jarred and Wyatt (mother) Lynne Liimu; also survived by Debra Reith, Ulla Nieminen, Tarmo Pihlaja, and many close friends. Raili Olli and other family in Finland, Riitta Djaken in Sweden. Aila was predeceased by parents Ida Maria Anonen, Anton Olli and her 11 siblings. A Celebration of Aila‘s Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29th, 2008 in Hilldale Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Jari Lahtinen. Donations may be made in Aila‘s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
