VERGE, Irene Isabelle VERGE, Irene Isabelle - 86, Halifax, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vesta (MacDonald) Newell. Irene is survived by her daughters, Sandra (James) Simourd, Sharon Verge, Doris Roberts and Patricia (Charles) Doucette, all of Halifax; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; sons, Lawrence, Donald and Edward. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 29, funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, with a reception to follow, all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Private family interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch, or The Lung Association.
