Ruth Jean HAMILTON

HAMILTON, Ruth Jean - Formerly of New Glasgow, passed way peacefully in Arborstone Enhanced Care on February 26, 2008. She was born on July 8, 1914, in Antigonish and married the late F. Keith Hamilton on June 28, 1941. She was a graduate of Mount Allison University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, and she taught home economics for several years in Nova Scotia. In 1963, her family moved to Washington, D.C. where she had a long career in retail at Woodward and Lothrup. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou, San Antonio, Tex.; grandsons, Christian and Craig, San Antonio; great-granddaughters, Miranda, Johnson City, Tenn.; Madison, Universal City, Tex.; nephews, David Simpson, Potomoc, Wash., and Eric Simpson, Nottingham, England; niece, Joan Simpson Bears, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith; brother, Raymond Simpson (Halifax) and sister, Mary Simpson (Los Angeles, Calif.). Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. A memorial service will beheld in New Glasgow at a later date.
