Roger BELANGER

BELANGER, Roger 2008-03-25 Mr. Roger Germaine Belanger, age 71 years, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 21, 2008. He was born June 19, 1936 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. Roger worked construction, and for 25 years as a mill worker until he started his own Safety Supply Store in Marathon, He married his sweetheart, Fern Spencer with whom he spent almost 30 years. Roger was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 183 in Marathon. He enjoyed fixing and painting cars, building a family camp and the time there with his family and children. He enjoyed socializing at the Royalton Hotel with his buddies. Also, Roger enjoyed playing pool, poker, playing his harmonica, telling stories and jokes of all kinds. In his younger days he enjoyed curling. Roger will be sadly missed by his children: Karen (Tim) of Brampton, Michelle (Al) of Marathon, Leonard (Judy) of Thunder Bay, and Dee Dee of Thunder Bay. He will also be missed by his 9 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Germaine and Annette; his sisters: Collette and Carmen; and his brother-in-law Harold. Funeral Services for the late Roger Belanger will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28th, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Roger‘s memory to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society, or to the charity of your choice.
