SOLOMON, Brian E. December 7, 1952 - August 17, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce Brian's passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Brian moved to Calgary from Regina in 1969. In 1972 he began working at Western Canada Steel and in 1980 assumed the role of Personnel and Safety Coordinator. In 1990 Brian moved to ATCO Structures spending the last seventeen years as Safety Coordinator for their Calgary operations. Brian was proud of his work, knowledge, and dedication in the safety field. He co-founded and sat on numerous committees, and mentored many in an effort to improve workplace safety standards. Brian's goal was to ensure everyone went home safely to their families at the end of the day. Brian will be dearly missed by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Linda; sons, Jason (Angela) and Ian (Samantha); granddaughter, Jenna; parents, Elmer and Mary; sister Gail (Rick) Perez; brother Sheldon (Linda). He will be sadly missed by family in Britain, sisters-in-law, Carole and Eileen, brother-in-law John (Karen). Brian is predeceased by mother and father-in-law, Lily and Harry, and sister-in-law Christine. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 27 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 15 Templebow Road N.E., Calgary (285-3773). Thank you to the nursing staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. In lieu of flowers, Brian asked that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Liver Foundation. Published in the Calgary Herald from 8/22/2007 - 8/23/2007
