MAHONEY, Margaret 2008-04-08 Mrs. Margaret Rose (Thatcher) Mahony, age 82 years resident of Thunder Bay passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Pinewood Court. Margaret was born in Windsor, Ontario on November 25, 1925 to Dora and James Martin. While living in Windsor, Margaret met William Thatcher and they were married there. They moved to Fort William after World War 2 and she has lived here since. William predeceased her in 1974. She later married Bill Mahony and he predeceased her in 1996. Margaret was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Ladies Auxillary and a member of the Ladies of the Moose Fort William Chapter. Margaret loved the outdoors and for many years the family camped at Come By Chance Resort. She is survived by her sons Jim Thatcher and wife Nadia of Thunder Bay, Charles “Martin” Thatcher and wife Kris of Peachland B.C. enroute, daughter Marjorie Thatcher and husband Jamie Buckley of Thunder Bay and grandchildren Matthew Thatcher (Aimee Miles) and Lauren Thatcher (Tyler Reinelt) and Jeannie (Rex) Baldwin, sister Helen Squire (Bob) of Florida, as well, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. Margaret was predeceased by her first husband William Thatcher, second husband William Mahony, son Thomas, brothers Les, George, Ernie, Jim and William Martin and sisters Mildred and Edie, brother-in-law Ted (Flo) Thatcher. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzhiemers Society would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Margaret Mahony in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009.
